When you submit a form on a website protected by SpamKill, we process what you submitted — which may include your name, email address, phone number, message, IP address and technical signals about how the form was filled — in order to decide, on that website owner's instruction, whether the submission is automated. For this data the website owner is the controller and SpamKill acts as their processor.
We do not retain that content by default. The decision is made in flight and the submission is passed to the destination the website owner has configured. This applies whether a submission is allowed through or blocked.
Submissions that pass the filter are delivered to the website owner's destination and are not retained by us. A website owner can choose to keep a record of the submissions we block, so that a genuine person wrongly caught by the filter can be recovered. Where they do, the record is stored by us end-to-end encrypted: it is sealed with a public key generated in the website owner's browser, and the matching private key is stored by us only locked under their encryption passphrase, which we never receive. We hold only ciphertext, and have no ability to read, search or disclose the contents — including to law enforcement, who we would refer to the website owner. It is decrypted in their own browser when they enter their password to open it.
If you want a submission you made accessed, corrected or deleted, the website owner who operates that form is the person who can act on it, because they hold the key. You can also contact [email protected] and we will delete the stored record and pass your request on. Our Data Processing Addendum sets this out in full.
Email addresses you provide to refer a friend (used once to send a single referral email and not retained), referral links, codes, and cookie-based attribution data, and — for Affiliate Partners — application, contact, payout, and tax information.

If you are an existing customer and choose to refer someone, you may give us your friend's email address, or share a referral link or code. Where you provide your friend's email address, we send a single email to that address, on a one-time basis and at your request, that includes your name and email address so your friend knows who referred them, together with information about our Services and our identity and contact details. We do not send follow-up or reminder emails to your friend, and we do not store or retain your friend's email address — it is not kept in our databases or server logs after the message is sent. We rely on your confirmation that you have a personal, family, or business relationship with the person you refer and that you are authorized to provide their contact information. If you apply to become an Affiliate Partner, we collect the information you provide in your application (such as your name, contact details, and the payout and tax information needed to pay commissions). We use referral link parameters and cookies to attribute referred customers to the correct Affiliate Partner. We may show an Affiliate Partner limited information about the customers they have referred so they can verify their referrals and commissions; where we do, we mask the customer's email address and do not disclose other personal details.
As described elsewhere in this policy, our infrastructure and certain service providers are located in the United States. Information processed in connection with the Programs (including the transient sending of a referral email) may be processed in the United States.

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. When you close your account, your data will be marked as deleted or closed. Form submission data follows a different rule. Submissions that pass the filter are never retained. Submissions we block are not retained either unless the website owner has turned the review queue on. Where they have, the records are kept encrypted for the period stated for that customer's plan — 31 days for held-submission review — and then deleted. The customer can delete a record sooner at any time.
You may opt out of receiving promotional communications from us by using the unsubscribe link within each email or by contacting us. Please note that you cannot opt out of receiving service-related communications (e.g., account verification, transactional emails, changes/updates to our products or services, technical and security notices).
